Mosquito Control in Dothan, AL | Pest-Ex

Mosquitoes can spoil time on the porch, in the yard, or at an outdoor event. Pest-Ex serves Dothan, Enterprise, Ozark, Eufaula, Troy, Ashford, Headland, Abbeville, and Webb from our Dothan office. We look at where people are being bitten, how they use the yard, and whether standing water or thick vegetation is nearby. Locally owned since 1956, we help Wiregrass neighbors make outdoor spaces more comfortable.

Signs you have mosquitoes

Mosquito activity is usually easiest to notice when people are outdoors. Common clues include:

  • Repeated bites when entering or using a yard, patio, or shaded outdoor area.
  • Mosquitoes resting in cool, humid, shaded spots during the day.
  • More activity near containers, drains, gutters, or other places that hold water.
  • Biting activity that increases after rain or during warm, humid evenings.
  • Outdoor seating or play areas that are used less because mosquitoes are present.

Why mosquitoes are a problem in southeast Alabama

Southeast Alabama’s warm, humid climate supports mosquito activity for much of the year. For many Wiregrass properties, the main season runs roughly April through October, though weather can extend or shorten activity in a given year. Rain, irrigation, clogged gutters, and small containers can leave water where mosquitoes develop. Shaded landscaping and still air can also make outdoor spaces less comfortable.

Even a small amount of water in a plant saucer, bucket, tarp fold, low spot, drain, or gutter can support mosquito activity. Nearby properties and natural areas can also affect how many mosquitoes people notice. An inspection checks the outdoor spaces you use along with places where mosquitoes may breed or rest.

A small patio, large lawn, shaded play area, and business entrance each call for a different look. Tell us where mosquitoes bother you, when you notice them, and whether you can empty or manage standing water. We’ll focus the inspection on the spaces you use most. If you host an outdoor event, share the date and the areas guests will use.

How Pest-Ex treats mosquitoes

Pest-Ex checks the yard, shaded resting areas, and places where water collects. Your technician explains service options, the areas included, and any preparation before work begins. Open gates and clear access to the yard areas you want inspected.

We treat identified areas under the agreed plan and explain what to monitor afterward. Rain, nearby sources, and standing water can affect results. Keep a note of where and when you notice activity after the visit; that helps us review those areas with you.

Ask about recurring plans for visits during mosquito season. We can discuss timing and coverage for your yard, business entrance, outdoor seating, or other spaces where people gather. For rental or event properties, tell us who can provide access and which areas need attention.

What you can do between visits

These steps can help reduce places where mosquitoes rest or develop between visits:

  • Empty or refresh water in buckets, plant saucers, toys, and other small containers.
  • Clear leaves from gutters and check tarps, covers, and drains after rain.
  • Keep grass and dense vegetation maintained around frequently used outdoor areas.
  • Use window screens in good repair and close doors promptly when entering the home.
  • Follow public-health guidance on personal protection, including appropriate repellents.

Frequently asked questions

When is mosquito season in the Wiregrass?

Mosquito activity is often most noticeable from April through October, but rainfall and temperatures can shift the season. Some properties may see activity outside that typical window.

What should I expect after mosquito service?

Your technician will explain which areas were treated, what to monitor, and when a follow-up visit may help.

What should I check before requesting service?

Note when and where mosquitoes bother you, and look for standing water in containers, gutters, or low spots. Removing water where possible can complement a professional assessment.

Called a pest control company and they never responded. Called Pest-Ex and they sent a tech out the very next day. Steve was very professional and a joy to talk with. He sprayed the perimeter of the house and I started to see the effects immediately. He didn't try to upsell any services that I didn't need. Pest-Ex earned my trust! Their rates are fair and reasonable if not better than the national chains. With that being said, we signed up for the quarterly treatment option. I don't normally give 5 stars, but Pest-Ex really impressed me!!! Thank you Pest-Ex!
