Bed Bug pest control in Dothan, Alabama

Bed Bug Control in Dothan, AL | Pest-Ex

Finding a possible bed bug is stressful, especially when bites or marks are hard to identify. Pest-Ex inspects and treats bed bug concerns in Dothan and the Wiregrass towns of Enterprise, Ozark, Eufaula, Troy, Ashford, Headland, Abbeville, and Webb. We start by identifying what you found and checking where activity appears. Bed bugs travel with people and belongings and can show up in any home. Since 1956, our Dothan team has helped local customers understand the next step.

Signs you have bed bugs

Bites can look like other skin reactions. Check sleeping and resting areas for these clues:

  • Small dark spotting along mattress seams, bed frames, or nearby furniture joints.
  • Pale shed skins or tiny eggs tucked into protected cracks and fabric folds.
  • A live flat, oval insect found near a mattress, headboard, chair, or luggage.
  • Marks or irritation after sleeping, while remembering that skin reactions vary.
  • Signs near places where people rest, even if no insects are visible on top of bedding.

Why bed bugs are a problem in southeast Alabama

Bed bugs stay active indoors year-round. They hide near where people sleep and tuck into seams, joints, folds, and narrow gaps. In the Wiregrass, travel, visitors, student housing, hotels, rentals, and shared furniture can carry them between locations.

Bites can look alike, and some people show little or no reaction. Look for physical signs before moving furniture or throwing items away. Unnecessary disposal can spread insects through a building and add expense without solving the source.

In apartments and other shared buildings, the inspection may need to consider adjacent spaces and the property manager’s role. A bed bug concern also affects how linens, clothing, luggage, and furniture should be handled. A measured plan helps customers understand what to isolate, what to keep in place, and what preparation is actually requested by the technician.

How Pest-Ex treats bed bugs

Pest-Ex inspects and identifies the pest, then explains treatment and preparation for your home or business. We check likely hiding places and confirm which rooms or items are included. Your technician gives preparation instructions for the property and service plan.

After treatment, follow-up helps track new signs and decide whether more service is needed. The inspection, activity, and preparation shape the follow-up plan.

A general pest plan does not replace a bed bug inspection and service. If you live in a rental or multi-unit building, tell the owner or manager so everyone can coordinate access and preparation.

What you can do between visits

Until the inspection, keep activity contained and avoid actions that could spread insects:

  • Avoid moving mattresses, furniture, or loose belongings between rooms or units.
  • Keep suspected items together and follow the technician’s instructions for bagging or laundering.
  • Do not apply multiple over-the-counter products or use foggers in sleeping areas.
  • Photograph a suspected insect or save it in a sealed container for identification if practical.
  • Tell your technician about recent travel, used furniture, shared housing, and where signs appeared.

Frequently asked questions

Do bites prove that I have bed bugs?

No. Skin reactions vary and can resemble other conditions. Look for physical evidence and arrange an inspection before treating a room or discarding belongings.

Are bed bugs caused by a dirty home?

No. Bed bugs travel in luggage, clothing, and furniture, and can affect clean homes, hotels, and rentals.

Should I throw away my mattress?

Do not discard furniture before an inspection. Moving it can spread insects, and treatment may be possible without disposal. Follow the technician’s site-specific instructions.

Can bed bugs spread between apartments?

They can move with belongings and may travel through shared building spaces. Notify the property manager so nearby areas and access can be considered in the service plan.

Does Pest-Ex serve Abbeville and the Wiregrass?

Yes. Pest-Ex serves Dothan, Enterprise, Ozark, Eufaula, Troy, Ashford, Headland, Abbeville, Webb, and nearby Wiregrass communities. Your technician will give you preparation instructions before a bed bug visit.

Called a pest control company and they never responded. Called Pest-Ex and they sent a tech out the very next day. Steve was very professional and a joy to talk with. He sprayed the perimeter of the house and I started to see the effects immediately. He didn't try to upsell any services that I didn't need. Pest-Ex earned my trust! Their rates are fair and reasonable if not better than the national chains. With that being said, we signed up for the quarterly treatment option. I don't normally give 5 stars, but Pest-Ex really impressed me!!! Thank you Pest-Ex!
